10 reviews for F1 Horizon Finch – Classic Flip Phone

Finally found a dumb phone that just does the basic things but still works with the major wireless carrier.
I’m very happy with the Finch. The premium talk to text service is very helpful. I use it with text messages, notes and the calendar. I was easily able to transfer my contacts, notes and calendar between the Daisy, Finch and Cypress. Works well for my minimalist experiment. No more nagging web. To improve the hardware on all three models mentioned, I’d recommend a more sturdy SD card retainer and a phone jack that works with the JBL brand phone jacks. The phone jack did work with my iPhone wired style ear buds. I really like the phone’s software and simple apps. I think the file and programming tree hierarchy is well thought out. I would like a more detailed user guide to accurately depict how to change out the SD cards. And although it was easy to transfer my info between devices, I had to go online for the directions. Bluetooth worked on most everything I tried; the car, keyboards, headsets, earpods, even a 12 year old Plantronix earpiece with mic boom. Bluetooth did not work with my Jabra hearing aids but was not expected by their sales folks. When I don’t cover the external speaker with my finger, it is loud; even louder when I place the phone on a flat solid surface. I don’t use the touch screen panel much but when I do it works fine. For me the next major hardware upgrade that I would like would be a flip phone that used a large qwerty keyboard vice the number pad. And I would want to keep the flip phone feature to protect the main screen and qwerty keyboard should it be a touch screen. But who can say how well that would sell for you?
I’d like to qualify one statement. I said it was easy to transfer my files between my devices. I don’t like to use the Apple or Google servers to sync my data between devices I have on hand in the house. The local transfers can be done but it is not easy and requires lots of research. With the Sunbeam devices I can easily make local data transfers without having to load my data into a cloud I don’t control.
Well made phone that was exactly what my son needed. It was easy setup on the first use and has been great so far!
